Global is full of clans promising elder to all who join. As a rule, avoid these. If seeking a new clan, look for one with only a few elders and check their donation stats to make sure they are active. Once you are in the clan, see if elders are in communication with one another via imessage or kik or whatever (some form of communication between them). Finally, when you first join the clan, ask for the rules - if no one can provide them in a clear, succinct way, then the rules aren't established in that clan (this as a bad sign). Good leadership will end up being a huge factor in how much you enjoy your clan experience. Clash on!
